Eugene Hi-Fi is
the authorized U.S. agent for van den Hul's cartridge
retip & repair program. van den Hul will repair
most any moving coil cartridge. Work is performed by
the Dutch Master himself, A.J. van den Hul. He will
inspect the cartridge and perform any work that is needed.
If a cartridge is sent in for a new cantilever or stylus
and A.J. finds that the
suspension needs replacing, the suspension will be replaced
and A.J. will bill the customer. There is no estimate
provided before the work is completed.
van den Hul cartridges in the
Grasshopper series and above can be modified. Compliance
can be adjusted to accommodate a different tonearm and
coils can be changed to accommodate personal tastes.
Matched Crystal Copper, Silver & Gold coils are
available.
There is a minimum charge of $300. Prices vary between
cartridges, but a new van den Hul Type 1 line contact
stylus and boron cantilever typically is $600 - $700.
Non-van den Hul cartridges require a $350 down payment.
Shipping is $85 for air service to and from The Netherlands
and ground service back to the customer.
Cartridges are shipped
to the Netherlands every 4-6 weeks. Customers will be
billed when the work is completed and the cartridge
is en route back to Eugene Hi-Fi. Cartridges must be
paid within thirty days or a $50 per month storage fee
will be assessed. Cartridges not paid for after 60 days
are assumed abandoned and become the property og Eugene
Hi-Fi
van den Hul will
not accept the following cartridges for repair:
- Decca (all models)
- Denon 1000
- Audio Technica 1000
- Dynavector 17R & 17D models
